A favicon (short for ‘favorites icon’), are litle icons associated with a particular website or webpage, shown next to the site’s name in the URL bar of most browsers.

Here’s an easy to create site for generating your own favicon.

Browsershots makes screenshots of your web design in different browsers. It is a free open-source online service created by Johann C. Rocholl. When you submit your web address, it will be added to the job queue. A number of distributed computers will open your website in their browser. Then they will make screenshots and upload them to the central server here.

If you’re in a hurry and don’t feel like using Corel or Adobe to trace out your bitmap images into vector, check out this site called VectorMagic.  This web based application was developed by Stanford University’s Artificial Intelligence Laboratory and is a research project by James Diebel and Jacob Norda. Looks like the tool was built in Flash. Great work guys!
